Ingredients:
- Rice – 2 cups
- Urad dal (split black gram) – 1/2 cup
- Fenugreek seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt – to taste
- Oil – for greasing the pan
Instructions:
- Prepare the Batter:
- First, wash the rice, urad dal, and fenugreek seeds separately and soak them in water for 4-6 hours.
- After soaking, grind the rice and urad dal together to make a fine paste. Add some water to the paste to make a batter-like consistency.
- Cover the batter and leave it in a warm place for 8-12 hours to ferment.
- Making the Dosa:
- After fermentation, add salt to the batter and mix well.
- Heat a non-stick pan or tawa on medium heat.
- Grease the pan with a little oil.
- Pour a ladle of batter in the center of the pan. Using the back of the ladle, spread the batter in a circular motion to form a thin, large dosa.
- Cook the dosa on medium heat until it turns golden and crispy. Drizzle a little oil around the edges and flip the dosa. Cook it on the other side until golden.
- Serving:
- Remove the dosa from the pan and serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar.
